EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Al Dahra Agriculture Trading and Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities have activated a five-year wheat supply agreement worth up to US$500 million. The pact moves a 2023 financing framework into an operational import arrangement for Egypt. Al Dahra will supply imported wheat to GASC through financing from the Abu Dhabi Exports Office. The agreement establishes the mechanism for purchases under that existing program.

Al Dahra and GASC signed the agreement at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers headquarters in El Alamein on Aug. 26, 2026. Egypt’s Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, who also chairs GASC, attended the ceremony. Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, co-founder and managing director of Al Dahra, also attended. The announcement did not disclose wheat volumes, shipment dates, wheat origins or a pricing formula for purchases under the agreement.
The financing structure originates from August 2023, when ADEX and Egyptian authorities established a revolving program for wheat imports. ADEX designated the program at US$100 million, with annual renewals over five years and a potential total of US$500 million. Egypt’s ministries of international cooperation and finance joined GASC in that initial setup. The 2026 supply agreement now provides the operational framework for GASC purchases from Al Dahra under this financing scheme.
2023 financing framework transitions into active implementation
ADEX functions as the export-financing arm of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, offering financing linked to purchases from Emirati exporters. In 2023, the office indicated that its Egypt facility would fund wheat and other vital commodities supplied via Al Dahra. The financing program created a five-year structure to facilitate these transactions with GASC. The latest agreement retains that structure, while setting the operational details for Al Dahra’s imported wheat deliveries.
Al Dahra has been active in Egypt since 2007, maintaining agricultural operations in Toshka and East Oweinat. The company reported in 2023 that it cultivated around 28,000 hectares in Egypt. It also claimed to have supplied over 180,000 tons of wheat to the Egyptian government during the previous three years. Recently, Al Dahra stated that its wider agricultural platform now serves more than 40 markets globally.
Al Dahra’s Egyptian presence dates back to 2007
The agreement signed in August 2026 pertains to imported wheat, while Al Dahra also produces agricultural commodities within Egypt. In 2023, the company identified itself as Egypt’s largest private-sector producer of wheat and corn. It noted that approximately 85% of its farm output in Egypt was sold locally at that time. The new pact involves imported wheat supplied to GASC through the ADEX program, rather than a separate US$500 million financing arrangement.
This five-year agreement reflects the financing framework announced three years earlier, without establishing a second US$500 million facility. Neither Al Dahra nor GASC have revealed the total wheat tonnage covered by the deal, nor have they provided details about shipment schedules, supplier origins, or pricing formulas. As of Aug. 27, 2026, the confirmed arrangement continues to be a five-year wheat supply program valued at up to US$500 million under ADEX financing.
